Today I want to talk about what happened to me on a website where people hire others to do small jobs.
I made an account there, and after a few months I finally got my first job. I finished two little tasks, but then the site told me I broke their rules by having more than one account. After that, my page was closed. I felt surprised and confused, and talking to their help team made me feel like nobody was really listening to me.
What I’m trying to say is that the rules there can feel risky for everyone who uses the site. If you’re someone doing work, it might be hard to earn money. And if you’re someone paying for work, things can get mixed up if the worker’s account has problems.
Sometimes a person might pay for a project, but the worker might not get the money right away if the site is still checking things. That can make it unclear who is allowed to use the finished work. So both sides can end up feeling stuck.
If you look at the company’s stock numbers lately, they don’t seem to be doing very well after all the new computer tools came out. Their own tools don’t feel very helpful, and it looks like the site might be having a rough time. It makes me feel like some of the problems people have had there aren’t being handled the right way.
Why I cared so much about the money:
I was saving it to help my dog, who is really sick, and losing it made me feel awful.
A better idea:
Instead of trying to trick anyone, it’s smarter to learn how to meet people in honest, safe ways outside of the platform. If you ever want more customers, you can share your work on other websites, your own page, or social places online so people can find you directly. Sometimes giving a small discount or showing your work first helps new customers feel calm and confident.
For the person buying the work, it feels easier on their wallet and a lot less scary.
In the end, don’t let anyone take advantage of what you can do. Your hard work should be treated with care, not taken away.
