I’ve found the side hustle I want to try, and it's Amazon FBA. Is it better to create a seller account as a company or as an individual?

t’s easier to do things the right way by starting a business from the beginning. Then you can use lots of helpful tools, and if you’re just starting out, you can pay for it with money from your part-time job. This keeps everything separate, so your taxes don’t get mixed up. Having a business also makes you look more professional and can open many opportunities.

I do Amazon merch, which works great, plus I’m an Amazon affiliate. My books are also published by a company that works with Amazon books. It’s definitely something to think about if you want to start on Amazon without spending money. If you have a nice voice, you might get offers to do ads for Audible audiobook narrators too.

It’s usually smarter to open a business account first, especially if you’re hoping to grow your business one day. Having a business account can make you look more official and might help with things like saving money on taxes. Also, if you ever want to build a brand or maybe sell your business later, it can make stuff a lot simpler. But if you’re just trying things out for now, using your own name is totally okay too.

Yeah, I feel the same way. There’s a bunch of cool things I want to try, and it’s hard to pick just one! I’ve been thinking about maybe starting with selling stuff online, writing a blog, or trying to earn from sharing links. Can I message you to talk more about it?

I’m thinking of starting college in about a year, so this year I want to learn how business works and try to earn some extra cash with a few small jobs. I might not have as much free time once school starts, so do you think it’s better to set up a business account now or just stick with a personal one for now?

Try to figure out how much time you’ll really have for something like selling on Amazon, and think about how much money you want to spend. Setting up a business account costs some cash, so if school’s going to keep you super busy, it might not be the best move right now.

For now, a regular personal account might be the smarter choice.

If you’re just trying things to see what works, using your own name is okay. But if you want to grow big and take it seriously, it’s smarter to sign up as a business. A company name can help with taxes, make your brand look more pro, and keep your personal stuff safer.
